A DAY AT BACKSTAGE STARS
Find out what to expect from one of our
holiday camps!
- 01
Drop off for all our camps is between 8:30am-9am! All children MUST be dropped off by a parent or guardian and any communications should be given to the member of staff on the front desk.
The drop off points for our venues are as follows:
THE MACREADY THEATRE, RUGBY
All children should be registered in through the 'Old Armoury' building. This is located at the back of the main theatre building adjacent to the small car park area. Please note, there is no parking for parents at The Macready Theatre - you will need to use the car park on Little Church Street (approx. 2 minute walk).
NORTH LEAMINGTON SCHOOL, LEAMINGTON SPA
All children should be registered in through the canteen which is accessed directly across from the main school car park.
Once children have been registered in for the day, they will be shown where to take their belongings and then head into the main rehearsal area for games and warm up!
- 02
During this time, our camp leaders have a short chat with all the children to go over what to expect from the day and some important rules for everyone to follow to ensure all our children are safe! In this time, children are invited to ask any questions they may have about the day or give input to the day's running.
As we have such a short period of time to turn around a full scale production, TEAMWORK is super important to us. The Morning Meeting may consist of team building activities and games too!
- 03
We always kick off the day with a HUGE warm up to get everyone ready for the jam packed day ahead! Following this, our morning can consist of a huge range of activities from learning songs to technique classes, set building and more. There's never a dull moment at Backstage Stars!
The whole group will break for a snack at around 11am each day.
- 04
We normally break at around 12:30pm for lunch! The children are taken to a break out space for their lunch and breaks and are expected to sit and have their lunch for around 25-30 minutes before being having some free time. The children are supervised throughout this free time.
- 05
We kick off our afternoon with some games and fun to get everyone back in the correct mindset for the afternoon!
Our afternoon activities can vary as much as our mornings. There's lots to get done in just one week at our camps so our days are jam packed with loads of different things to do.
Closer to the final day, our afternoons tend to consist of full run throughs ready for our performance to family and friends!
- 06
Every afternoon, we have a debrief with all the children to discuss all the work we have completed that day and what we are planning for the next day. This is an important time in the day for us as it allows the children to ask any questions they might have or raise any concerns on anything they are feeling unsure about!
At the end of each day, we also award our certificates! These can go to any of the children for any reason - it may be that they have been really helpful or that they have stood out for developing a new skill. We normally award between 4-6 certificates per day!
- 07
Between 3:15pm-3:30pm, all of the children collect their belongings and have a final opportunity to talk with our camp leaders if they have any questions.
Collection starts promptly at 3:30pm from the same location as drop off. A camp leader will sign children out in order that they are ready so, if you need to collect quickly, please let us know in advance.
If you would like to speak to any of our camp leaders upon collection, please come and ask a member of staff who will be more than happy to help you.
- 08
On the final day of the camp, we TAKE TO THE STAGE in a full scale production for friends and family! This is the highlight of the week and the children are always so excited to showcase what they have been working on.
For the performance, the doors to the building will open for friends and family at approximately 5pm and the performance will start at 5:30pm! Please note, everyone attending will be required to reserve seats in advance - a link will be sent out to you.
At the end of our performance, we will have our awards ceremony! This is to award those who have gone above and beyond throughout the week or developed even further than we expected. No one goes home empty handed as everyone receives a medal and certificate for their hard work!
